CDC Announces New Respiratory Infection Activity Metric
On October 4, 2024 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) replaced the influenza-like illness (ILI) metric on the Respiratory Illnesses Data Channel. The CDC encourages Long term care facilities to use the metric to guide Infection Prevention and Control measures as it pertains to the “big three” respiratory viruses (COVID-19, flu, RSV). This new metric combines a range of data points to monitor the infection rates of these respiratory illnesses to guide Infection Control Preventionist with prevention measures.
