Federal Elected Officials:

  • President: Donald Trump won Michigan and secured the Electoral College to reclaim the presidency.
  • U.S. Senate: Elissa Slotkin (D) narrowly defeated Mike Rogers (R) for the seat vacated by Debbie Stabenow, leading by less than 1%.

State Elected Officials:

  • Michigan House: The Michigan House will shift to a 58-52 Republican majority from a 56-54 Democratic majority, with Republican Matt Hall from southwest Michigan to become Speaker.
  • Michigan Senate: Democrats retain a slim 19-18 lead, pending a special election for Kristen McDonald Rivet’s vacated seat.
  • Split Government: Governor Whitmer has two years remaining in her second term, meaning the 2025-2026 legislative term will operate under a split government.
