MDHHS Releases Notice Regarding Blue Cross Changes (SNF)

MDHHS issued an alert to all providers regarding the recent changes at Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network to their self-service tools. The content of the notice is reprinted below for your convenience. Please share this information with your business office along with billing and admission staff.

“All Providers,

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and Blue Care Network (BCN) have changed the host of their self-service tools, including eligibility verification, from Provider Secured Services to Availity. Any questions should be directed to your BCBSM, BCN, or Availity contacts. More information can be found at provider.bcbsm.com or www.Availity.com/bcbsm. If you currently access Availity, please note that you may need to request the Michigan region be added to your account.

Third-Party Liability (TPL) will not accept screenshots of web-DENIS as verification of a policy after 6/30/2022. Screenshots from Availity may be submitted, however, they need to come from the Michigan region. Other regions may not have up-to-date information available. TPL will continue to receive a file directly from BCBSM and BCN. Most additions, terminations, and other updates will be received from the file within 7 to 10 days of the change and do not need to be reported.”
