MDHHS Nursing Facility Reimbursement Update

On Wednesday, January 31, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) hosted a Nursing Facility Reimbursement Update webinar. MDHHS discussed a number of reimbursement topics. HCAM had brought forward a proposal to the department requesting an extension of the non-available bed plan, as well as requesting that an initial settlement process be used again for settling 2023 cost reports. We were glad to hear the department was moving forward with these initiatives. We will share the PowerPoint presentation and webinar recording with members when they are available. 

FY23 Initial Settlement Plan

For FY23 cost reports, MDHHS will offer FY23 initial settlements. There will be no option for modified/early initial settlements. FY23 initial settlements:     

• Will use the updated Variable Cost Limit.
• Will be paid at 100%.
• Must be requested by August 2, 2024, through [email protected].

Revised FY22 Initial Settlement Plan

MDHHS will be offering a revised FY22 initial settlement option for October 1, 2022-December 31, 2022 to reflect the updated VCL. Revised FY22 Initial Settlements:

• Will be paid at 100%.
• Must be requested by August 2, 2024, through [email protected].
