COVID-19 Lab-Related Reimbursement Requests (SNF)
On April 6, 2023, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued a memo extending the period for which providers must submit supporting documentation for COVID-19 lab-related reimbursement requests. The department has now issued a deadline: Documentation must be submitted by August 1, 2023.
As a reminder, if your facility participated in the COVID Testing Reimbursement Program, documentation is required to support all lab related reimbursement requests. The COVID testing reimbursement program was funded with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) dollars, and FEMA reached out to MDHHS to obtain documentation to support funds expended for testing services.
On August 12, 2022, MDHHS requested documentation from providers to support all lab related reimbursement requests previously submitted to MDHHS for reimbursement on form MDHHS-5918 for any tests occurring since October 1, 2020. MDHHS has since been informed by FEMA that they also need documentation to support all lab related reimbursement requests prior to October 1, 2020, as well.
Skilled nursing facilities: Please submit the appropriate lab invoices via your respective file transfer portals through MiLogin. Be sure to specifically identify that you are submitting documentation to support lab fees and mark it “Attention Pam Myers.”
Please do not email any protected health information or personally identifiable information. Failure to submit the required documentation could result in delays of future reimbursements and recoupment of associated lab fees. Questions about this procedure? Email [email protected].
