MDHHS Allows Cost Report Filing Extension Requests (SNF)

MDHHS has provided Medicaid cost reporting filing relief for December 31, 2021 cost reports. Providers must file a request to access the 15-day extension. Below is the detail from the notice sent to all providers regarding the access to an extension for filing these cost reports. File the request immediately if your facility needs the extra time.

“LTC Reimbursement and Audit Division has been made aware that several facilities are experiencing difficulties with the December 2021 cost report preparation. We are offering a 15-day extension for filing for those who specifically request an extension to file via the [email protected] e-mail address.

The request must include the name(s) of the facility, the county code- license number, the NPI number, reason for the extension, be on facility letterhead and signed by an authorized person.

If a facility does not request an extension prior to the filing deadline (before May 31) your December 2021 cost report will be delinquent and payment termination will ensue.”
