HCAM Testifies on Governor’s Proposed Budget (SNF)
On Tuesday, February 22, HCAM presented testimony to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Community Health/Human Services. The Governor’s budget includes funding to continue the direct care worker wage increase through the next fiscal year, and expand the program to non-clinical employees in nursing facilities as well. The budget also includes boilerplate language detailing the process for setting the October 1, 2022 rates. The language mirrors the rate setting process used for fiscal year 2021-2022. HCAM testified in support of each of these provisions.
The committee also inquired into the regulatory environment in Michigan, and how the survey process is impacting the workforce challenges. HCAM is working with legislators to advance HB 5609, which makes various improvements to the survey process. You can find the bill and track its progress HERE.
