Governor Signs Legislation Expanding Medicaid Coverage for Telemedicine Services

On June 6, Governor Whitmer signed House Bill 4213, sponsored by Representative Christine Morse (D-Texas Township), to require telemedicine services to be covered under Medicaid and the Healthy Michigan Program if those services are provided at, or contracted through, a distant site allowed in the Medicaid provider manual. 

Expanding a health care professional’s ability to provide telemedicine services from different locations will ensure that providers have the tools to establish quality health care for patients and will place health care decisions solely in the hands of the professional and the patient. The bill, which is now Public Act 54 of 2024, took immediate effect.
