Ask your Legislator to Support Adult Foster Care Facilities by Opposing House Bill 4841!
Michigan House Bill 4841 would add staffing, training and other burdensome requirements to the Adult Foster Care Licensing Act. The additional requirements do nothing to enhance services to residents. Instead, they create a regulatory framework that will be near impossible for most AFCs to comply with. The bill implementation would require assisted living communities to increase rates for residents – making the rates unaffordable for much of the vulnerable population they serve and likely leading to closures across the state.
HB 4841 may see legislative movement as early as September before the Michigan House Families, Children and Seniors Committee. HCAM is engaging with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), the bill sponsor, committee members, and legislative leaders to educate them about the catastrophic impact the bill will have on Michigan’s AFCs and to ensure that the most problematic provisions of the bill are addressed. We need member engagement to make this happen!
We ask you to contact your state legislators and Governor Whitmer to urge them to support Michigan’s Adult Foster Care communities by opposing HB 4841!
