AHCA Quality Initiatives - Role of Leadership: Top Down vs. Bottom Up DAVID GIFFORD, American Health Care Association As a physician, former state regulator and current AHCA/NCAL Senior VP of Quality, Dr. Gifford is uniquely qualified in the field of long-term care quality improvement. His presentation will include an update on development of the CMS quality assurance and performance improvement program (QAPI), new federal requirements for corporate compliance and facility-based ethics committees, INTERACT III as a program for reduction in rates of rehospitalization and the AHCA quality initiatives including AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards Program.
Serving as a Change Agent in a New Health Care Delivery Model
MIKE DUGGAN, former CEO of Detroit Medical Center As the former CEO of Detroit Medical Center, a prosecuting attorney and a candidate for the future Mayor of Detroit, Mike Duggan is uniquely qualified to describe the role of a change agent operating in a rapidly evolving professional environment. Being bold enough to take on big problems and find big solutions is a required attribute for success in this role. Mr. Duggan will share his insight predicting the look of a “new health care delivery model”, what essential decisions must be made by the various provider groups to survive and thrive during periods of dynamic change and how “health care” will remain a major player in federal and state policy/funding discussions.
What Every Employer Needs to Know in 2013
GRANT PECOR, Clark Hill In addition to the many environmental changes in health care, the climate surrounding employment law will change as well. Employment law expert Grant Pecor will provide a critical update that will focus on the implications of Michigan’s Right to Work law, recent significant decisions of the National Labor Relations Board, the recent announcement that the Department of Labor will be updating the persuader regulations in April of 2013 and other employment law components.

All registration fees are due at the yime of registration. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. We will also accept a check or money order payable to HCAM. Incorrect rates will be adjusted to reflect the correct applicable rate and automatically charged accordingly. Should you have questions in regards to your applicable rate, please contact HCAM at (517) 627-1561 prior to submission.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
All refund requests must be made in writing by e-mail to Mary Campbell at MaryCampbell@hcam.org. Telephone cancellations will NOT be accepted. Individual registration fees, less a 25% processing fee, will be refunded for cancellations received in writing prior to Feb 27. Cancellations received after Feb. 27 will not receive a refund nor a credit to a future program.
Substitutions
Individuals registered to attend this conference, but unable to attend, may send an alternate in their place. Please contact Mary Campbell at MaryCampbell@hcam.org to process this request.
Dietary Restrictions and/or Special Accommodations
