Local State Rep. Performs for Tendercare Tawas

The saxophone strains of big band tunes and a musical array of “oldies but goodies” were performed April 2 for the listening pleasure of the residents and staff of Tendercare Tawas City by Joel Sheltrown, Michigan State Representative for the 103rd House District.

Rep. Sheltrown is a well-known local musician who regularly performs for local churches and community events, such as the opening ceremony of the Ogemaw County Fair. He holds a music ministry position at Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch and is a member of the gospel quartet, “Crossing Jordan.”

The Tendercare residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon of music, and they hope that Rep. Sheltrown can make a return visit to the nursing home facility. While the residents were entertained by the saxophone melodies, they also enjoyed an ice cream social, with sundaes served during the performance.

Rep. Sheltrown was elected to the House of Representatives in Nov. 2004. He is a lifelong resident of northern Michigan’s Ogemaw County.
